What you'll learn
Step 2 builds upon Step 1 by evaluating your clinical skills and knowledge required for patient care. It has two components:
- Clinical Knowledge (CK):
This portion is a computer-based test focusing on the diagnosis and management of diseases. Subjects include:- Internal Medicine
- Pediatrics
- Obstetrics and Gynecology
- Psychiatry
- Surgery
- Clinical Skills (CS):
This practical exam involves interacting with standardized patients. You’ll be assessed on your ability to:- Take accurate medical histories.
- Perform physical examinations.
- Communicate effectively.
- Document clinical findings.
Step 2 ensures you're prepared for hands-on medical practice and patient care.
Course Format:
- Step 2 CK (Clinical Knowledge):
- Focus on clinical subjects like Internal Medicine, Surgery, Pediatrics, Obstetrics and Gynecology, and Psychiatry.
- Approximately 318 multiple-choice questions over one day.
- Step 2 CS (Clinical Skills):
- Assess communication, clinical reasoning, and documentation skills.
- Conducted with standardized patients in clinical scenarios.
